Ernst and Young Assessment Centre Tests Guidance To Pass In First Attempt

EY Assessment Centre Guidance

Welcome to the final big stage before offer. EY calls this the EY Experience Day. You will complete just a few tasks to land your dream job at Ernst & Young. These can include a group task, a written report, a case or role play, and a short numerical retest. Some chats at lunch or between sessions can also count. This page explains what to expect and how to prepare at EY Assessment Centre (EY Experience Day).

EY shares setup advice on their site. The key points are very simple. Use a computer with a working webcam and microphone. Use stable internet. Use the latest Chrome if possible. Sit in a quiet and bright place. Dress smart casual. For any recorded answers you get a practice round. For the Experience Day do not use a mobile phone. Have a basic calculator, a notepad and a pen ready. Think about your motivation for EY and your service line. Then be yourself.

What happens on the day

  • Check in. Identity check and tech check. Be ready 10 minutes early.
  • Written report. Read a short pack. Write a clear email style report for a client and a short note for an EY manager. Focus on structure and clear reasons.
  • Group task. Work with other candidates to reach a simple decision. Listen well. Share the time. Build on ideas. Aim for a result you can explain.
  • Role play or case chat. Review a short scenario. Speak to a colleague or client in a short call or meeting. Show you can ask good questions and solve problems.
  • Short numerical retest. Some routes repeat a quick number task. Use your calculator. Show accuracy first, speed second.
  • Informal conversations. Treat lunch or breaks as part of the day. Be polite and curious.

How you are marked

Assessors collect evidence against EY strengths. These include Adaptability, Learning Agility, Curiosity, Resilience, Collaboration, Motivation, Integrity and Relationship Building. Your goal is simple. Show how you think, how you work with people and what result you reach. You do not need perfect answers. You need clear steps and good judgement.

Tip. Use short sentences and numbers where you can. For example, show the two or three options you considered. Show why you chose one option. Show the impact in a line.
