CRITERIA TO BECOME CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT IN UK

Those who wish to become chartered accountants in the UK must successfully advance through the following two stages:

 

  • Complete three years’ training with a professional services accountancy employer (e.g. a Big Four firm)
  • Pass exams coordinated by the sector’s official regulatory bodies such as ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS, CFA etc - during the aforementioned three-year training period.

PWC GRADUATE TRAINEE INTERNSHIP BENEFITS

The benefits of training with a Big Four firm in the UK are immense:

     
  • Full training support is provided, in preparation for passing exams and gaining the desired professional qualifications. In progressing a trainee towards ICAEW certification, for example, a Big Four firm would typically spend around £50,000 during the three-year training period.
  • A graduate trainee can expect to start on a salary in the range of £30,000 per annum during the training period. After a successful three years, this rises to around £55,000. Read more on the available benefits.
  • Numerous additional benefits available during training include professional mentoring, fully paid business expenses, bonuses and an interest-free loan of up to £7,000.

Fact: Overseas applicants can only apply to internship positions at PWC. However, if you hold UK nationality but had attained all your qualifications outside of UK then you are eligible to apply for the PWC School Leaver Programme.

PWC JOB APPLICATION TESTS FOR THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

PWC has set 6 types of recruitment tests to assess each applicant before offering the trainee job. These tests are applicable to more or less all graduate and school leaver applicants.

 

Step 1:  Applicant completes PWC Registration Form
Step 2:  Takes online PWC Personality OPQs and work-based assessment STQs tests
Step 3:  Takes online PWC Aptitude tests
Step 4:  Attend PWC First Interview
Step 5:  Attend PWC Assessment Centre
Step 6:  Attend Final PWC Partner Interview
Step 7:  Successful applicant will receive PWC job offer

WHERE DO YOU TAKE PWC JOB APPLICATION TESTS

You can take Step 1 to Step 4 job assessment tests from your home country. You will need to travel to the UK to attend Step 5 and Step 6 job test assessments.

 

Please note that normally PWC would make all the necessary travel arrangements for you if you are travelling from overseas to attend the PWC assessment tests in the UK.

TRAINEE JOBS AVAILABLE AT PWC IN UK

 

PWC recruit nearly 2,000 graduate trainees every year. The number of graduates seeking training contracts with PWC, both from the UK and overseas, currently stands at approximately 40,000. Thus, in order to stand a realistic chance of being accepted, an applicant must score exceptionally and pass all the six-stage assessments mentioned above.
