KPMG Launch Pad Assessment Centre Tests Guidance To Pass

KPMG Launch Pad Assessment Centre: Pass at Your First Attempt

Congratulations on passing the earlier stages. The Launch Pad is the final stage and takes place in person. It is a half day event with a mix of assessed and non assessed activities. You will meet trainees, managers and partners. You will also learn more about your chosen programme and location.

Green Turn is the market leader and the only specialist company worldwide that teaches candidates how to secure a Big Four job through training delivered by former Big Four employees. Our team has nineteen years of success helping people move into top firms.

If you need any adjustments for the day, tell KPMG in advance by email or phone. They are happy to support you.

An Overview

The Launch Pad brings together several activities. You may complete a case style etray exercise, one or more role play meetings, a group exercise, and a final interview or a short presentation. Some routes include a short written task. In some cases KPMG may ask you to repeat a small part of the online assessments to confirm your skills on the day.

Your behaviour is scored against the KPMG skills. These include career motivation, learning and curiosity, resilience, relationship building, effective communication, initiative, planning and organisation, results focus, critical thinking, inclusive collaboration, integrity, and applying expertise and technology.

KPMG Launch Pad Event Assessment Centre Details

KPMG assesses candidates at Launch Pad using exercises designed with leading HR assessment firms such as SHL, Cappfinity and Cubiks. These firms publish psychometric tests that KPMG uses worldwide. The standard assessment centre exercises are described below. Depending on the service line you have chosen, you may also be asked to deliver a short presentation to a KPMG partner. The topic is usually given on the day, so you will not have time to prepare in advance.

1: KPMG Etray Exercise

A. Virtual office. This exercise runs in a computer based email simulation similar to Microsoft Outlook. You must answer all questions within a one hour limit. You will handle emails and voicemail messages to build an understanding of several work situations. Answers are multiple choice and are marked automatically by KPMG software when you submit.

B. Analysis writing. This exercise uses a computer based word processing simulation similar to Microsoft Word. You must answer all questions within a forty minute limit. You will receive project based fictional information and use it to write a short report with your analysis and recommendation.

2: KPMG Role Play Exercises

A. Client meeting. After the etray exercise you will join a fifteen minute fictional client meeting so KPMG can gather important information before moving on. To refresh your memory of the etray topics and your earlier responses, you may read a short KPMG booklet for a brief period.

B. Assessor meeting. You will then attend a fifteen minute meeting with a KPMG assessor who is often a manager and may be a partner. This builds on your responses from the etray and the client meeting. Expect challenge questions and follow ups on the reasons behind your suggestions. The assessor will judge whether you understood the topic and how effectively you gathered information from the client.

KPMG allows only a short time with the information booklet. You will not be able to digest everything without prior preparation. You therefore need the right guidance well in advance. Guesswork does not work at the assessment centre.

3: KPMG Launch Pad Group Exercise

This exercise is completed in teams. It measures team work and coordination and it also links to other competency areas. All applicants receive a shared information pack to build knowledge of the case topic. Each person also receives individual information that must be shared with the group. You will have twenty minutes to analyse the pack and the individual notes, then thirty minutes to discuss as a group. Communicate your views clearly and respectfully, invite others to speak, and help the team reach a final decision.

4: KPMG Self Assessment Form

All attendees complete a short feedback form. It asks what you liked and what you did not like about the day, how you think you performed, and how KPMG could improve the process. The form usually takes about ten minutes and the time spent on it is monitored. KPMG later compares your self assessment with your actual marks to review your personal perception skills.

5: Lunch With Colleagues

You will meet KPMG trainees and seniors at lunch. Ask questions and share your interests. This is a friendly conversation, but it is also an informal assessment that usually lasts around forty minutes. You will be judged on your manners and ethics as well as your curiosity about the work.

Preparation Checklist

  • Review the twelve KPMG skills and prepare two strong stories for each skill.
  • Practise an etray case with emails, charts and a short report. Use simple headings and short sentences.
  • Practise a ten minute role play. Focus on questions, summaries, and a clear recommendation.
  • Practise a twenty minute group case. Include others and move the team to a joint plan.
  • Plan travel, arrive early, and bring photo identification and a notebook.
  • Follow KPMG rules on integrity. Complete all tasks on your own. Our training builds skill and confidence. We do not take tests for you.

KPMG Launch Pad Assessment Centre Results

Your performance at the assessment centre stays on record and is used in KPMG final decisions. It is possible to pass individual tasks and still miss an offer if your overall performance is not strong across the day.

KPMG grades each stage from one point to five. If an applicant shows core capabilities and reaches five marks during the assessment centre process, they are considered an ideal match.

This means you should aim for the maximum five points on every stage to stand out from other applicants. Arrive prepared with Green Turn so you can perform at your best.
