I have been following up on the European Commission's Audit Reform. They believe that there is a lack of competition within the audit industry (around 90% of the FTSE 250 are audited by a Big 4). So to increase competition, they are proposing the mandatory rotation of audit firms, as well as appointing joint auditors for some audits.

Big Four's stance is that there would be increased costs because audit firms of different sizes would have to work together to design specialised communications systems that allow information to be shared between the two rivals.....
