Congratulations on passing the KPMG Launch Pad assessment centre tests! Approximately 92% of applicants won’t have made it this far, so you’re already doing very well indeed! It’s time to push ahead and take it to the next level. Stage eleven of the KPMG job application procedure is the partner interview.
After you choose a convenient date from the options offered by KPMG, you will have roughly one to two weeks to prepare. As we all know, job tests can be daunting and how can you be fully confident of putting in a perfect performance if you lack Big Four experience? As long as you can show sufficient drive and enthusiasm, we will give you the support you need to land the job of your dreams.
KPMG has created the partner interview stage to judge you against their key Behavioural capabilities criteria. The test will be time-restricted, so you must be able to cope with intense pressure. Our training will ensure that you are fully confident and ready to deal with any eventuality. Imagine the embarrassment and panic caused by ‘freezing up’ during the KPMG Partner interview and you’ll realise just how crucial this is.
Although KPMG do list key competencies criteria on their website, they don’t provide many details on the initial and follow-up questions you can expect to face. However, you can draw on the experience of our experts, who have previously worked for Big Four firms, to give you a major advantage in this area. Green Turn is the only company offering preparation courses delivered by former KPMG employees, which will really set you apart from the crowd.
The interview will be face-to-face with a KPMG partner at the company premises. There is no set time restriction and an interview can last from 40 minutes to two hours. An average interview will last for 45 minutes, during which time you will be asked around 15 initial questions and three follow-up questions for each, leading to a total of roughly 45 questions (15x3). Below are two examples of the types of questions you will be facing:
KPMG COMPETENCY: SEIZES BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
How do you keep your business knowledge up to date?
KPMG FOLLOW ON QUESTIONS:
WHAT ROUTINE DO YOU FOLLOW TO KEEP YOURSELF UP-TO-DATE ON BUSINESS NEWS?
TELL ME ABOUT THE LATEST NEWS YOU HAVE FOLLOWED RECENTLY?
TELL ME ABOUT THE COMPANIES THAT ARE PERFORMING WELL AND REASONS FOR IMPROVEMENT?
TELL ME ABOUT THE COMPANIES THAT ARE UNDERPERFORMING AND THE REASONS FOR LOW PERFORMANCE?
KPMG COMPETENCY: CAREER MOTIVATION
Why have you chosen to apply to KPMG instead of other Big Four Firms?
KPMG FOLLOW ON QUESTIONS:
WHAT INTERESTS YOU ABOUT KPMG IN PARTICULAR?
HOW ARE KPMG AUDITING TECHNIQUES DIFFERENT COMPARED TO OTHER BIG FOUR FIRMS?
WHAT DIFFERENTIATES KPMG FROM OTHER BIG FOUR FIRMS?
WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT OUR CLIENTS?
Your performance during the partner interview will be kept on a permanent record and used during KPMG’s final deliberations to determine whether or not you have got the job. This is the ultimate part of the application process and therefore represents your last chance to impress.
KPMG grade your ability on each stage between 1 point and 5. It is assumed by KPMG that if an applicant can demonstrate ‘core capabilities’ and attain the full 5 marks during the partner interview process then they automatically become a perfect match for the firm.
This means you need to score the maximum 5 points on every single stage to set yourself apart from rival job seekers and cannot afford to take a job test without having been properly prepared by Green Turn.
Our research findings show that 7% of applicants fail KPMG’s partner interview stage, which in practice means that they have basically ruined their chances of ever securing a job with the firm. You are in a race against time – vacancies are quickly filled due to the major salary and status benefits provided by Big Four companies.
