Congratulations on passing the aptitude tests! Approximately 90% of applicants won’t have made it this far, so you’re already doing exceptionally well! Now it’s time to take it to the next level. Stage ten of the KPMG application process is the group exercise, which is part of the assessment centre process.
After choosing a convenient date from the options offered to you by KPMG, you will typically have between one and two weeks to prepare. As we all know, job tests can be daunting and how can you be fully confident of putting in a perfect performance if you lack Big Four experience? As long as you can demonstrate passion and endeavour, we will give you the support you need to land your dream job.
KPMG have designed the group exercise to assess you against KPMG behavioural capabilities competencies criteria. The test will be time-limited, so you must be able to withstand pressure. Our training will ensure that you are fully confident and prepared for any eventuality. Imagine the embarrassment and panic caused by ‘freezing up’ during the KPMG group exercise and you’ll realise just how important this is.
Although KPMG do list key competencies criteria on their website, they don’t provide many details on the initial and follow-up questions you can expect to face. However, you can draw on the experience of our experts, who have previously worked for Big Four firms, to give you a major advantage in this area.
This exercise will be conducted in groups, chiefly for the purpose of assessing your teamwork and coordination skills although other competency areas will also be taken into account. You will all receive a standard ‘information pack’ to build up your knowledge on a particular topic. In addition, each team member will receive their own unique information, which they are expected to share with the team. You will be given 20 minutes to analyse the information pack and additional unique information and will then get a further 30 minutes to discuss it with the group. You are expected to confidently communicate your opinions with other participants and aim to reach a final conclusion.
As with all KPMG assessment centre tests, the relevant software has been developed for the company by SHL, a renowned global HR consultancy that publishes various psychometric tests for KPMG worldwide.
The time afforded to you by KPMG in which to read their informational booklet is insufficient for adequate preparation. Thus, it is vital that you receive appropriate guidance at this stage because you do not want to be waiting for a meeting feeling nervous and unprepared. You need the relevant information and guidance well in advance to give yourself a realistic chance of success.
Your performance during the group exercise will be kept on a permanent record and used during KPMG final deliberations to determine whether or not you have got the job. It’s more than possible to successfully get through this stage by attaining a passing grade, yet fail to secure employment when KPMG recruiters take a look at your collective performances over the whole application process.
KPMG grade your ability on each stage between 1 point and 5. It is assumed by KPMG that if an applicant can demonstrate ‘core capabilities’ and attain the full 5 marks during the assessment centre process then they automatically become a perfect match for the firm.
This means you need to score the maximum 5 points on every single stage to set yourself apart from rival job seekers and cannot afford to take a job test without having been properly prepared by Green Turn.
Our research findings show that a massive 90% of applicants fail the KPMG group exercise, which in practice means that they have basically ruined their chances of ever securing a job with the firm.
