KPMG Role Play Exercises Guidance To Pass In First Attempt

KPMG Role Play Exercise: Pass at Your First Attempt

Congratulations on reaching the KPMG Launch Pad Assessment stage! Approximately 85% of applicants won’t have made it this far, so you’re already doing very well indeed! It’s time to push ahead and take it to the next level.

An Overview:

Stage ten of the KPMG application process is the role play exercise, which is part of the Launch Pad Assessment Centre process. At the LaunchPad, you will be undertaking in-tray and presentation exercises too. You will also be re-taking the numerical reasoning test and one of the verbal or diagrammatic reasoning tests.

KPMG Launch Pad Role Play Preparation:

After you choose a convenient date from the options offered by KPMG, you will have roughly one to two weeks to prepare. As we all know, job tests can be daunting and how can you be fully confident of putting in a perfect performance if you lack Big Four experience? As long as you can show sufficient drive and enthusiasm, we will give you the support you need to land the job of your dreams.

KPMG Role Play Competency Criteria:

KPMG has designed the role play exercise to assess you against their key Behavioural capabilities criteria. The test will be time-limited, so you must be able to withstand pressure. Our training will ensure that you are fully confident and prepared for any eventuality. Imagine the embarrassment and panic caused by ‘freezing up’ during the KPMG role-play exercise and you’ll realise just how important this is.

Although KPMG does list Behavioural capabilities criteria on their website, they don’t provide many details on the initial and follow-up questions you can expect to face. However, you can draw on the experience of our experts, who have previously worked for Big Four firms, to give you a major advantage in this area.

KPMG Launch Pad Role Play Test Details:

KPMG’s role play exercise hinges on your interpersonal as well as your professional skills and consists of three separate face-to-face meetings. All topics discussed during the role play exercise will be based on your responses to the etray exercise. No additional time is provided for preparation between these stages.

The KPMG role-play exercise comes in three parts:

A.  After completing the etray exercise, you will be asked to attend a fictional 15-minute client meeting. This meeting will be held so that KPMG can gather some useful information before moving on. To jog your memory, you will be allowed to look at a KPMG instructional booklet so you can briefly prepare and remember your etray responses.

B.   After attending the client meeting, you will be asked to attend a 15-minute meeting with a KPMG manager. This meeting builds on your responses in the second part of the etray test and uses them as the basis for a fictional scenario. The partner will initially ask you questions while posing as a fictional client’s director and will proceed to rigorously challenge and cross-question you.

C.   In the third part of the role play exercise, you will meet KPMG trainees and seniors at lunch where you will discuss your questions and career aspirations and learn about their views on working for KPMG. However, this is not just a casual chat, it is in fact a 40-minute informal assessment during which you will be judged on your ethics and manners.

The period of time that KPMG allows you to look at the instructional booklet is insufficient in which to properly prepare. Thus, it is vital that you receive appropriate guidance at this stage because you do not want to be waiting for a meeting feeling nervous and unprepared. You need the relevant information and guidance well in advance to give yourself a realistic chance of success.

KPMG Launch Pad Role Play Test Results:

Your performance during the role play exercise will remain on record and is used in KPMG’s final deliberations to determine whether or not your application has been a success. It’s fully possible to successfully get through this stage by scoring a passing mark, yet fail to secure employment when KPMG recruiters take a look at your performances over the application process in its entirety.

KPMG grade your ability on each stage between 1 point and 5. It is assumed by KPMG that if an applicant can demonstrate ‘core capabilities’ and attain the full 5 marks during the assessment centre process then they automatically become a perfect match for the firm.

This means you need to score the maximum 5 points on every single stage to set yourself apart from rival jobseekers and cannot afford to take a job test without having been properly prepared by Green Turn.
