Parents of Successful PWC Applicant 2024
Congratulations on passing the aptitude tests! Approximately 90% of applicants won’t have made it this far,so you’re already performing at a high level! Now it’s time to take it further.
Stage twelve of the PWC application process is the role-play exercise, which is part of the assessment centre process. At the assessment centre, you will be undertaking both in-tray and role-play exercises. You will also be re-taking the numerical reasoning test and one of the verbal or diagrammatic reasoning tests.
After choosing a convenient date from the options offered to you by the company, you will generally have from one to two weeks to prepare. As we all know, job tests can be daunting and how can you be fully confident of putting in a perfect performance if you lack Big Four experience? If you can demonstrate the required ambition and endeavour, we will give you the support you need to land your dream job.
PWC have designed the role play exercise to assess you against the PWC Professional Framework Competencies Criteria. The test will be timed, so you must be able to deal with pressure. Green Turn’s training schemes will ensure that you are totally confident and prepared for any eventuality. Think of the embarrassment and panic caused by ‘freezing up’ during the PWC role play exercise and you’ll realise just how important this is.
PWC do list key competencies criteria on their website, but they don’t provide many details on the initial and follow-up questions you can expect to face. However, you can draw on the experience of our experts, who have previously worked for Big Four firms, to give you a major advantage in this area.
Depending on the business route you have chosen at PWC, you will be attending either a group exercise or an individual case study. The individual case study differs from the group exercise in that you will be given a specific company ‘information pack’ to review and will reach final conclusions on your own, whereas the group exercise is conducted as a collective.
You will be given half an hour to review the information pack before a ten-minute discussion with the PWC manager, after which your scribbled sheets will be taken away and marked. The manager can challenge your views and will steer the direction of the meeting. You will need to demonstrate both your professionalism and interpersonal skills.
Next, you will meet PWC trainees and seniors at lunch where you will discuss your questions and career aspirations and learn about their views on working for PWC. However, this is not just a casual chat, it is in fact a 40-minute informal assessment during which you will be judged on your ethics and manners.
As with all PWC assessment centre tests, the relevant software has been developed for the company by SHL, a renowned global HR consultancy that publishes various psychometric tests for PWC worldwide.
The time afforded to you by PWC in which to read their informational booklet is insufficient for adequate preparation. Thus, it is vital that you receive appropriate guidance at this stage because you do not want to be waiting for a meeting feeling nervous and unprepared. You need the relevant information and guidance well in advance to give yourself a realistic chance of success.
Your performance during the role play exercise will be kept on a permanent record and used during PWC’s final deliberations to determine whether or not you have got the job. It’s more than possible to successfully get through this stage by attaining a passing grade, yet fail to secure employment when PWC recruiters take a look at your collective performances over the whole application process.
PWC grade your ability on each stage between 1 point and 5. It is assumed by PWC that if an applicant can demonstrate ‘core capabilities’ and attain the full 5 marks during the assessment centre process then they automatically become a perfect match for the firm.
This means you need to score the maximum 5 points on every single stage to set yourself apart from rival jobseekers and cannot afford to take a job test without having been properly prepared by Green Turn.
Our research findings show that a massive 90% of applicants fail PWC’s role play exercise, which in practice means that they have basically ruined their chances of ever securing a job with the firm. You are in a race against time – vacancies are quickly filled due to the major salary and status benefits provided by Big Four companies.
