Why this page now uses the term Online Assessments

EY’s early careers guidance refers to strengths based selection and directs candidates to the EY Student Assessment Practice Hub to get ready for the process. Some candidates call these tests aptitude tests. Online Assessments is a better name because the package includes Behavioural tasks and Cognitive tasks, and in some programmes short written or recorded responses as well. Our wording now matches what you will see during the process.

a

Important. SHL links and Cappfinity links both matter

As part of the EY application process, you are asked to use the EY Student Assessment Practice Hub to prepare. EY also shares SHL practice links. Many candidates assume the tests are only from SHL. That is not always the case.

  • EY Student Assessment Practice Hub. The Practice Hub runs on the Preparation Plus platform that belongs to Cappfinity. When you sign up or log in you will see the Cappfinity environment.
  • SHL practice tests. EY still provides SHL practice links, which are useful for core skills and timing drills.

We want to be fully transparent. This is why we include practice for both SHL and Cappfinity styles and explain the differences. That approach gives you the full picture and avoids last minute surprises.

What to expect in EY Online Assessments

  • Behavioural assessment. Scenario based items that ask how you would respond. Your choices should reflect EY strengths like Adaptability, Curiosity, Collaboration, Learning Agility, Resilience and Relationship Building.
  • Cognitive assessment. Numerical and verbal questions. You interpret charts, tables and short passages and choose the best answer. Some variants include timing. Accuracy and calm pacing are both important.
  • Platform tips. Use a laptop with a reliable connection. Read each prompt carefully. Answer every question. If a question is taking too long, move on and return if time allows.

If your programme includes a later Job Simulation, expect longer scenarios with written or video responses. We cover that in a separate page.
